Wool Waterfall Coat | Butterick 6244

Hi BEAUTIES! Happy Monday! Thank you for all for the positive feedback on my latest pattern launch, CHLOE! I’ve been wearing mine so much around the house & out and about lately, It’s literally SO comfortable! It launched Friday but I can’t wait to see YOUR versions! 🙂 I’m so grateful for all your support in helping me grow this pattern company. It’s something I’ve worked on and wanted for so long and I’m so blessed to see it growing with your help! 🙂

Okay, on to today’s post! I finally got around to making Butterick 6244 in a gorgeous wool blend! It’s a very popular pattern in the sewing community and for good reason! It’s quick & a beautiful make. What more can we ask for? 😉 I’ve added photos and full details for you below. Enjoy the post and have an awesome week! Also don’t forget to subscribe to my YOUTUBE channel if you haven’t already there are tons of sew-along videos coming your way!

Make sure to stop by the pattern –> SHOP <– I greatly appreciate it! XO!

Pattern: Semi-fitted, unlined coat (wrong side shows) has front extending into draped collar, flat-fell seams, narrow hem, and shaped front hemline longer than back.  – BUTTERICK 6244.

Size: 8 -16, I cut size 8.

Fabric: Wool Blend. Similar options, HERE, HERE.

Changes: I took off 4″ of pattern length (using the lengthen/shorten lines on the pattern) to accommodate my fabric and I love the way it turned out. Omitted flat-fell seams.

Verdict: It’s the perfect weight for Texas “winter” and was such a breeze to make! You can whip this up in just a few hours for sure, I love it. A must have for your pattern stash. 😍

  1. Found your review on Pattern Review. Thank you, it was helpful. I was happy to see that someone other than I was making this coat in 2018. I bought the pattern a year or two ago and still love it.

    1. Thank you! The pattern is really awesome I will probably still be making it another two years! 🙂 I’m glad you found me, thanks a bunch for commenting! XO

  2. Love the coat. Can it be made in a lighter weight fabric for Florida? Also, I am new to serging. Do I sew the seam first and then go back with the serger?

    1. It definitely can be made from lighter fabrics that would be really cute! And you’re right, sew the seam first then finish/clean it up with the serger. XO Rosy
