PATTERN DETAILS

Pattern: Semi-fitted, unlined coat (wrong side shows) has front extending into draped collar, flat-fell seams, narrow hem, and shaped front hemline longer than back.  – BUTTERICK 6244.

Size: 8 -16, I cut size 8.

Fabric: Wool Blend. Similar options, HERE, HERE.

Changes: I took off 4″ of pattern length (using the lengthen/shorten lines on the pattern) to accommodate my fabric and I love the way it turned out. Omitted flat-fell seams.

Verdict: It’s the perfect weight for Texas “winter” and was such a breeze to make! You can whip this up in just a few hours for sure, I love it. A must have for your pattern stash. 😍

  1. Found your review on Pattern Review. Thank you, it was helpful. I was happy to see that someone other than I was making this coat in 2018. I bought the pattern a year or two ago and still love it.

    1. Thank you! The pattern is really awesome I will probably still be making it another two years! 🙂 I’m glad you found me, thanks a bunch for commenting! XO

  2. Love the coat. Can it be made in a lighter weight fabric for Florida? Also, I am new to serging. Do I sew the seam first and then go back with the serger?

    1. It definitely can be made from lighter fabrics that would be really cute! And you’re right, sew the seam first then finish/clean it up with the serger. XO Rosy

  3. I would love to follow your blog. I would love to make some of the outfits you’ve made for my daughter!
