The Katie Shirtdress

Hello BEAUTIES! Happy Monday, I hope everyone is doing great! Today is the start of my second week at work here in Los Angeles! 🙂 I had some free time during the weekend to explore the area and there’s SO much to see, my favorite part has to be the beautiful mountains! I still need to get into the groove of things as far as making time to sew for myself and the blog but I’m sure that will come in time. As for today these shots of The Katie Shirtdress pattern we’re taken by my wonderful sister before I left Texas. I reviewed and linked the pattern for your below. I hope you enjoy and have an awesome start to the week! – XO ROSY

Pattern Description: “The Katie” with bell sleeves giving it a fancy look and great for a conversation starter. This is definitely a dress you will find yourself living in all summer long. – FREE IN SSD MAGAZINE ISSUE 3

Pattern Sizing: XXS – 2XL, I cut a XS.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they are easy!

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It’s a great twist on a simple shirtdress.

Fabric Used: Cotton shirting from an unknown shop in LA. $2/yard! Similar fabrics, HERE.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn’t have enough fabric to create the bell sleeve as instructed in the pattern so I created a simple turned hem instead. Also omitted the hem facings and used bias binding.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes.

  1. Love this take on the Katie! I think I’ll try it again in a ligther fabric like this. I like your thinner binding on the hem as well. Being from Vegas, the mountains are what I miss the most from the west coast. 😊

    1. I’m so glad you like it, I almost forgot I used the bias binding instead of the hem facings! That’s awesome you’re from vegas! I’ve never been but it’s closer now so I’ll have to check it out! The mountain are beautiful! XO
