Striped Deep-V Dress – Vogue 9253

Striped Deep-V Dress - ROSY | PEÑA

Hello BEAUTIES! Happy Monday! 🙂 It’s been a busy month for me personally but thankfully I’ve managed to get together and shoot some of the makes I planned! This striped deep-v dress is a new pattern release from the vogue summer collection and I have nothing but great things to say about it! My dedicated sewists who are reading will be able to point out the mismatched stripes at the seams, but to be honest I don’t mind it. I felt great in this. 😉 I choose a LINEN fabric that draped beautifully with the design. It’s super comfortable and as you can see I wore it to the beach! Enjoy today’s post and we’ll talk soon! XO.

Striped Deep-V Dress - ROSY | PENA

VOGUE 9253

Pattern Description: MISSES’ DEEP-V KIMONO-STYLE DRESSES WITH SELF-TIE VOGUE 9253.

Pattern Sizing: 4 – 14, I cut size 8.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes! 🙂

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I’ve never had issues with very easy vogue patterns.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that even thought this dress has a plunging neckline, it still holds an elegance to it with the kimono sleeve and a-line skirt. It’s such a beautifully thought out design. I love it.

Fabric Used: STRIPED LINEN.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes to both.

  1. I just stumbled upon this and your blog. I love this dress and I will definitely be subscribing to your blog! Just curious, how many yards of the fabric did you end up buying/using for this dress?

  2. I kept looking at this pattern and thinking, this is so drab…. But then you make this beach coverup and I am sold!! Love it!!!

    1. Awe, YES! So glad you ended up loving this pattern, it’s really great! Rock it girl! XO

  3. I found you through pattern review, you have such a lovely blog. I never leave comments anywhere but giiirrrl this dress is stunning on you. I’m definitely not a seamstress, a beginner sewer would be more appropriate term, But when I saw it on sale, I decided to purchase it because the word “easy” on it, is what got me. Hopefully mine will turn out at least half as amazing as this dress looks on you.

    1. Thank you Christina! I know you can do it, if not now then definitely eventually! It just takes a little practice and trial and error. If you jump right into it, do a sample make and then use your fashion fabric once you get the basic construction down. You can do it! XOXO

  4. So fabulous! You are SO clever to have thought of using this fabric for this design, especially as the pattern envelope illustration looks fairly uninspiring! Well done, you totally stand out among the contributors to Pattern Review!

    1. Awe Liz! Thank you so much for your nice words! I really love the way this dress came together. Happy Sewing! XO

  5. Rosy gurl you look absolutely stunning!!!!! Your dress is gorgeous too!!!! I’m definitely going to stitch this, this weekend!!! Vogue Pattern has another must have pattern.

    1. Thanks so much Jennifer!! It’s a great pattern and the striped linen really complimented the design! You should definitely sew up the pattern soon!! XO

  6. Rosy, I did not notice the stripe thing until you mentioned it! I’m a knitter and a sewist and I know some sewists and knitters like to analyze for things such as this but I am totally just loving and appreciating your garment for how utterly gorgeous you look in it!!! It was such a wow moment when I saw you post this on Instagram. I was the one who posted “hold the phone”, lol. You hit a home run with this and all of your garments are feminine and lovely; you’ve got a great eye for color and shape. Great job at inspiring us all! 💕👗🙌🏼😍😘

    1. Thank you so much! Your sweet comments inspire me to continue sharing what I sew! 🙂 I am one of those who doesn’t get too fussy about lining up prints but I know many sewists love to match those seams perfectly. Which is cool, but I don’t mind mismatched seams sometimes lol. I’m happy your inspired by the posts and your hold the phone comment on Instagram cracked me up! LOL. Thanks again! XO.

  7. Great job!! You look great. Question: the fabric is looking a looks super dark…..Is that the exact fabric you purchased on fabric.com or is it a similar fabric?

    1. Thank you! Yes I linked to the exact fabric I used! It’s really nice to work with, you should totally get some! XO
