Floral Dress + Pattern Review – Burda 6916

Floral Dress + Pattern Review - Rosy | Peña

Hi Beauties! I hope the week is being kind to you all! Today’s post is this floral and yellow detailed dress I made using a Burda pattern! I picked up the fabrics from Mood Fabrics and I knew I wanted to make something “different” with them! I must admit, the floral and yellow are a bit a lot out of my comfort zone! I stay close to my neutral colored outfits, I think they work best with my skin complexion. The seam line details of this pattern are very prominent all on their own but I wanted to take it a step further and add the yellow as a contrasting color to REALLY show the details of the pattern! The casual me would have done the floral print all throughout but again I wanted to try something different here.

Do you usually sew in your comfort zone or tend to take some risks? 🙂 Pattern Review Below! Also an inspiration photo for my ponytail worn in the pictures! Please share your opinions on how you think this dress turned out! Have an amazing rest of the week! Xoxo

Pattern Description: Women’s Dresses, Geometric shapes, & Interesting Seam Lines. Burda 6916

Pattern Sizing: 8-18 US, I cut size 8.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow?I thought they were pretty easy to follow, it could possibly look intimidating to a beginner but it was pretty easy to put together.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I didn’t care for the facings that hang loose inside the arm and necklines (If anyone knows a better method, Please share!)

Fabric Used: Stretch Cotton Sateen, Stretch Poplin.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I swapped the skirt of View C and added it to the top of View A.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Probably in the stripped version of View B, I think it looks pretty cool!

Conclusion: The interesting seam lines of this dress make for a statement piece, you don’t see this type of style everywhere! If you like being different you’d enjoy!

  1. I love this dress! It looks amazing!
I was desperately searching the internet to get the pattern – but it does not seem to be available as pdf pattern. By chance, do you know which issue and year the burda style magazine is, where this pattern was in?

  2. I think you did an awesoe job with the dress and the yellow “pop of color” was perfect! It gives you a wonderful hour glass figure (although you didn’t need any help with that because you alrady ahve one, LOL!). Your hair is so cute too!

    1. Thanks Myra! I’m glad I chose the pop of color, It wouldn’t have been the same without! 🙂 Yay for taking some risks! & yay for hourglass figures! 😉 lol. Hair was a must I think it paired well with the dress! Xoxo! Take care
