Hi BEATUIES! Happy Monday! I hope you had a fabulous weekend filled with sewing, or sewing plans! 😉 Today I’m sharing a vest I made recently using a stretch blended cotton from MOOD. The fabric has a nice weight to it so I knew it would work well with something structured such as this. The pattern I used is SIMPLICITY 8054 with a few simple modifications. I was eyeing the pattern last spring and it was patiently waiting in my stash since then. I drew inspirations from a picture I found on Pinterest and thats what led me to adding larger pockets and belt loops to view (D) of the pattern.
What’s been inspiring you lately? I encourage you to give that a try! I find that I can usually use a pattern in my stash that is similar to a look I have in mind and go from there! Enjoy today’s post and pattern review below! XO.
Pattern Description: This lined vest pattern in 3 styles includes separate pattern pieces for B, C, D, DD cup sizes for the perfect fit. It’s a great item to add to your wardrobe that easily pulls together any look. Knit top included. – SIMPLICITY 8054.
Pattern Sizing: 8 – 16, I cut a size 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, similar.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the different collar options, and seaming details on the back.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Yes, I added large pockets from SIMPLICITY 8017 to the front panels and also a belt tie and loops.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes. If you’re a fan of sleeveless blazers, vest etc. then yes this is a great pattern. I haven’t spotted to many of these patterns out there but this is a great option nonetheless.
