Flirty Floral Separates

Flirty Floral Separates - ROSY | PEÑA

Hi BEAUTIES! Every once in a while we want something flirty to whip up in a day! 😉 That’s exactly what happened with this two piece dress! I was holding on to the floral fabric from Fabric.com for a few weeks wondering what to do with it! I even pulled it out a few times laid it down to cut but the patterns just didn’t “feel” right for it. Picky? Sometimes. 😉

The top is what I’m reviewing today and the skirt portion is self drafted, I have a tutorial here for a similar method that I used but you will need to taper in towards the lower half of the body and hips to get the more fitted look (If you want an updated tutorial for this skirt let me know). On the next blog post you can expect my December Sewing makes Video and soon I will talk about my plans for January and for the rest of the year! 🙂 Hopefully some of you will want to come along that journey with me! Have a fabulous day or night wherever you are in the world and I will see you soon! Pattern Review and Photos below! I hope you like the new shorter hair, I love it! <3 Enjoy! XO

Pattern Review

Pattern Description: Semi-fitted pullover top has V-neckline, flared long sleeves and stitched hem. – McCalls’ 7445.

Pattern Sizing: 6 – 14, I cut size 6.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like top patterns that have very few design details for days when you just want something easy that compliments a nice fabric. This pattern does just that! 🙂

Fabric Used: Pique Knit (limited quanity) – Similar fabrics: here, here, here.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I lowered the v-neck by 1″ and topstitched the facing 1 and 1/4″. Next time I will shorten the facing so it meets right with my topstitching.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes to both! You can always lengthen the top  or adjust as needed, there are several cutting/alterations lines on the pattern to make changes. I’m almost positive most of Melissa Watson patterns are this way.

  1. From the pattern envelope, honestly I wouldn’t have chosen it because I’m not a fan of flared sleeves and that style of pants. But you made a believer! Thanks for sharing, I found your blog via your recent venture into YouTube and I’ve been inspired to manipulate patterns to be my own. Thank you!

  2. Your outfit came out so cute! That’s an early Fall pattern? How did I miss that? And yet another one I’ll have to pick up. 🙂
