Plaid Tunic + Black Leggings – McCall’s 7472

Hello BEAUTIES! I’m back today with another project that I mentioned in my October sewing plans video! To a seamstress you can see all the “flaws” of this project in one glance! Lol to others this is probably fine! 🙂 Truth is I don’t worry much about print matching. Why, you may ask? I want to keep sewing as enjoyable of an experience as possible for me. If I sent my focus to make sure every seam line matches with its coordinating print, I’d (personally) turn into a crazy person and obsess over it. I don’t want to be that person! Don’t get me wrong, when I see finished garments that have beautifully met seams I definitely admire and appreciate it! 🙂 If you’re the type of person who can create that kind of work! Forgive me for this tunic. 😉 With all that being said lets move on to discussing the pattern!

McCall’s 7472. I think I’m in love. What’s not to like about a slouchy tunic with high slits! I’m trying to figure out if I’m more in love with the actual pattern or this plaid fabric but I’m almost positive it’s the wonderful combination of both! 🙂 I really picked some great projects this month for my personal taste as this is going to be my second pattern this month to add to my “TNT” (tried & true) fall/winter section of my pattern stash! I’m already planning another before I send it off to meet the other two patterns! It’s GREAT when you come across patterns that you know you’ll want to sew again and again! I hope you all have a FABULOUS day today! Pattern review/style photos below! XO

Pattern Description: Misses’ Raglan Sleeve, Button-Down Shirts and Tunics – M7472

Pattern Sizing: 6-14, I cut size 6.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. I noticed a notch missing on my cuff pattern but it may have just been my pattern batch. They probably corrected this by now, It’s nothing major.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the overall slouchy look of this garment and the side slits!

Fabric Used: Plaid print woven from Joann’s Fabric.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only change I made was adding one button to the center of the front pockets instead of two on either side.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Most definitely to both. I’m planning a red plaid version before the season ends, if you enjoy shirt dress style patterns this is a great pick. 🙂PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑAPLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA PLAID TUNIC + BLACK LEGGINGS - ROSY | PEÑA

  1. You did a great job Rosy!! I don’t know if it’s only me but I like the relax/abstract vibe your tunic offers. Watch designers start mixing and purposely NOT lining up prints. Thanks for sharing your sewing ventures!! Do you think you will do a November video for your sewing plans and fabric haul?
