Pussy Bow Mini Dress + Pattern Review – “Sew Over it”

Hello BEAUTIES! Happy Thursday! 🙂 I hope everyone is doing great! Today’s post is on this SUPER cute “DIY” Mini Dress using the “Sew Over It” Pussy Bow Blouse pattern! I’ve been drawn to this type of tie-neck top for a while now and finally caved in to make the sew over it version! Although there are a TON of these style patterns out right now (I want to sew them all) I would say this is the simplest version and most beginner friendly! There are no darts which makes it a fairly quick make, there is a little bit of hand sewing at the neckline but you can “stitch in the ditch” if you prefer. 🙂

Pattern Modifications

1. I added 9″ in length to both the front and back pattern pieces

2. I omitted the sleeves and made bias binding stripes of equal length to finish the armholes. Two stripes about 10″ long by 2″ wide for each armhole. (I joined them and sewed them with a 5/8″ seam allowance).

3. I used 1  1/2″ for the hem.

That’s it! Very simple modifications and so easy to throw on and go! 🙂 Pattern Review and photos below! Have a great weekend! XO!

I wanted to take a second to thank the McCall Pattern Company for sharing my make on the Floral Bomber, as part of the bomber jacket sew-along, onto their Instagram yesterday! It definitely made my day! Thanks a TON! XO!

Pattern Description: The Pussy Bow Blouse is a classic design that will always be in style. With two different style options you can choose between a v-neck version or a keyhole opening. Stylish and versatile, it’s perfect for the office but can be dressed up for a night out. – Sew Over it: Pussy Bow Blouse.

Pattern Sizing: 8-20, I cut size 10.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, in a dress version!

Were the instructions easy to follow? They are pretty simple, I’m so used to patterns explaining seam allowances in inches rather than cm but once I got used to that it was perfectly fine.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Simple yet versatile! Definite plus!

Fabric Used: Lightweight woven from Hobby Lobby.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Yes a few, I explained in detail above.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will make this again, I have few people in mind that may like this type of pattern as a blouse for work.
